What Is The Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a pledge by the government, businesses, local authorities, and communities to support the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. It recognises their sacrifices and ensures they are not disadvantaged due to their service.
Key commitments include:
– Fair Access: Ensuring access to healthcare, education, housing, and jobs without disadvantage.
– Special Consideration: Providing extra support for the injured and bereaved.
– Community Support: Encouraging organisations to create initiatives, such as employment opportunities for veterans or flexible working for military spouses.
Enshrined in UK law through the Armed Forces Act 2011, the Covenant relies on voluntary support to strengthen the bond between society and the Armed Forces.
